Howard began Fast Draw in 1981 after learning about a local club. Since that time, Howard has been one of the most travelled Fast Draw shooters in the sport. He's competed throughout the United States and western Canada pursuing his interest in this, the fastest timed sport in the world.
Howard currently holds fifteen world records in the sport of Fast Draw, and has won sixteen world titles:
- 2001-2006 World Blank Elimination Champion
- 2001, 2005-2007 World Wax Elimination Champion
- 2000, 2001, 2003-2005 World All-Around Champion
- 2003 Wild West World Champion
In addition, Howard is the current World Fast Draw Fastest Gun Alive. The F.G.A. is one of the most prestigious titles in the sport of Fast Draw, and uses a format combining both Index and Elimination styles of shooting to create a contest that truly tests the top shooters in the sport. This contest is held every few years and attracts the fastest guns in Fast Draw. The picture above right shows Howard firing one of the final shots to win the last F.G.A., which was held in 2003 in Oregon.
Please contact Howard at howard@gunfighter.com to organize a Fast Draw contest or demonstration. Howard can also put you in contact with shooters in most parts of North America, Korea, Japan, the U.K. or Germany, so please send an e-mail if you have questions about Fast Draw in those areas.
